Described as “achingly beautiful,” REBECCA KIDNIE'S voice finds a home in repertoire from Mozart to the contemporary.  A fierce advocate of new works, she has premiered Michael Ching/Dean Anthony's Speed Dating Tonight! with Janiec Opera Company, Alberto Caruso's The Master (with a libretto by Academy Award winner Colm Toibin) with New Opera Workshop, Francesco Santelli's The Silk City with Garden State Opera, as well as the second performances of Amelia by Daron Hagen and Salsipuedes by Daniel Catán with The Moores Opera Center.  Other celebrated roles include Mimi in La Bohème with Eklund Opera, the title role of Susannah and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte with Lighthouse Opera Company, Elvira in Don Giovanni with Bronx Opera, Alice Ford in Falstaff with Janiec Opera Company, Marianne Leitmetzer in Der Rosenkavalier and Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro with Moores Opera Center.

A dynamic competitor, Kidnie was a recent winner of the Giulio Gari International Voice Competition.  She previously received First Place at The Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition and The San Gennaro Italian Song Festival; was a Semi-Finalist at The Mary Jacob Singer of the Year Competition, The New York Lyric Opera International Voice Competition, and The Rising Stars Vero Beach Opera Competition.  A three-time Encouragement Award Winner at The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Kidnie holds degrees from University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Houston, and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

This creative artist wrote her first comedic character for a school assembly in 6th grade and has been a muse of the stage ever since.  Her self written one woman show, Rita Libretto is: The Ring Cycle was set to premiere at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre in the fall of 2020 (canceled due to Covid-19) after a well-received feature at The PIT NYC.  Recent virtual premieres include Avoidance Behaviors at The Zoom-a-Play Festival and What Are You Suggesting? at The Zoomologue Series (The Artist Co-op, NYC).  As well as her website blog, Kidnie is currently writing a memoir on the themes of grief as a twinless twin.
